Dr. McIntire is experienced with all phases of general dentistry. Some of our services are:
Preventive
Professional cleaning and oral examination: These are the backbone of good dental care. Regular cleaning is suggested at 3-6 month intervals. A professional cleaning appointment involves a thorough dental examination, general health screening, oral cancer exam, and screening for periodontal disease. X-rays are often recommended as part of periodic care. We’ll teach you about oral conditions that affect your general health, and discuss your dental concerns.
We love children. For children, preventive care includes fluoride treatment and recommendation for sealants. Sealants are a resin material bonded to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to significantly reduce cavities in these vulnerable areas.
Basic Treatments
Periodontal treatment refers to the treatment of the gums and other supporting tissues. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and has strong links to many diseases. Modern periodontal treatment emphasizes early detection and non-surgical treatment when necessary. Prevention is essential for periodontal health.
Root canal relieves pain and allows you to save your teeth.
Oral Surgery: Basic surgical treatment is available. Complicated extractions of surgery (including wisdom tooth removal) are referred to preferred specialists.
TMJ and orofacial pain relief.
Restorative Treatments
Fillings: Modern dentistry allows us to place white (composite resin) filling with superior bonds and sealers into most cavities.
Crowns: When extensive decay or previous large fillings cause a weakened tooth structure, a crown is often recommended. Today, most crowns are porcelain on the outside with a non-visible metal alloy beneath. This combination of strength and beauty makes these crowns very popular. In more specific cases, all gold or all porcelain crowns may be suggested.
Bridges (restoring tooth loss): Bridges are fixed to natural teeth as a replacement for single multiple teeth.
Implants: This is a very exciting technique, now widely used for replacing missing teeth. Implants are placed in the jawbone. A crown is attached to replace the missing tooth without involving the natural teeth.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Bleaching: This is very popular because it is a safe and effective way to lighten your teeth.
Bonding and veneers: These procedures can safely and conservatively change the appearance of teeth. Broken, discolored, and mal-positioned teeth can be dramatically improved. The beauty of these treatments is remarkable.
